I understand what it’s like to feel lost in your career journey, and have a job that is unfulfilling – because I’ve been in that exact position before.
I started college hoping to be a nutritionist. I completed a year as a health science major when I quickly realized it was not for me. Through a series of events I ended up graduating college with a marketing degree and was excited to work in advertising, putting my design skills to work. However, once I took my first job post graduation, I realized it was not what I wanted. I was sitting behind a computer all day, not talking to anyone. But I just invested 5 years of schooling, and a whole lot of money, so with a second go of it I transitioned to another marketing role. This time I had to invest a good deal of time, money, and energy to become certified in insurance for that specific role. In part due to my boss, and in part just due to it not being the right path for me, I quickly found myself more miserable than before. I was defeated in every sense of the word. I hated my job, and it bled into every area of my life. I made a decision to not lean into the sunk cost fallacy, and I quit. With no backup plan.
I worked at a small grocery store while I tried to figure out my life plan. I was in debt, with no job prospects and no direction. With my back against the wall, I built out an incredibly successful job search strategy. I started reaching out to people I know, and didn’t know if different fields and industries. I held countless informational interviews, I got clear on my ideal career, and what success looked like for me. I applied to countless jobs, tapped into the hidden job market and then through the beauty of networking a friend referred me to his friend who’s company was hiring. I would be doing something I knew I would love- HR recruiting.
I applied, interviewed and landed the job. After a very fulfilling 7 years in the recruiting industry I transitioned to something I love even more – career coaching where I can now help people who are in the same state I was in and help them find fulfilling careers they truly enjoy.
I’ve been a corporate recruiter at one of the largest recruiting firms for 7+ years. I have interviewed thousands of candidates and have conducted countless debriefs with hiring managers and HR professionals to determine what candidate they want to hire. All this to say, I know exactly what it takes to get you hired.
The first several years of my career I ran the hiring initiatives for all our recent college graduate roles. I focused on hiring candidates who had just completed their undergraduate or grad programs and were looking for their very first corporate role.
Later in my career I successfully recruited and hired for all our mid to senior level roles with several fortune 500 companies including Mattel, Walmart, Cummins, and more.
Let me help you too!
